The church hierarchy and other anti-choice zealots are a distinct minority in Rhode Island, loud though they may be. Not one legislator risks re-election to their office by standing on the side of choice.
I just don’t understand why RIRTL has so much clout. Am I the only Rhode Islander who remembers the anti-choice constitutional amendment was defeated by the voters 2 to 1? Am I the only one who remembers the Rhode Island Two to One Coalition?

Too bad there’s not some sort of giant, interconnected, searchable world-wide database of information that would let people find out information on professional services on their own. It would be pretty cool, and could actually be used to lower the cost-of-entry for professionals AND to let consumers protect themselves.

I really think the whole idea of legislatively-protected guilds should come to an end. We ought to be stripping these laws, not creating new ones.
