This week Labor Vision looks at the history of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 328.  The UFCW is the largest union in Rhode Island, representing workers in many industries, but most prominently in supermarkets like Stop and Shop.

Did you know that Stop and Shop is actually owned by a a foreign company called Royal Ahold (who saw Net sales increased 10.5% to $ 4.4 billion. Net sales increased 1.8% when compared to the adjusted fourth quarter 2008 sales )? Also, did you know that the contract covering workers at Rhode Island’s Stop and Shop stores expires February 20th.  Get ready to support you fellow workers!
