With the events of Charlottesville and the death of Heather Hyer still smoldering in our memories, hundreds of Rhode Islanders representing dozens of labor, political and advocacy groups came together to celebrate the accomplishments of organized labor and to condemn racism, white supremacy and the rise of fascism.

RI JWJ is calling out Price Rite for its low wages & on-call scheduling practices. RI JWJ maintains that Price Rite reserves “better” produce for suburban stores and sends lower quality produce to urban locations.

The ordinance passed 5-4 on what Cranston City Council President Michael Farina called “straight party lines” but if the meeting was supposed to be Farina’s show, Councilor Steven Stycos stole it.

Providence became one of over 200 cities to participate in a “National Day of Action to Fight for $15.” In a two hour march through downtown Providence, nearly 100 workers and activists visited businesses engaged in wage theft, low pay and anti-unionization efforts.
