American Neanderthal
Seems like the perfect name to call
Those goons who crowd around his stage
Like cavemen from the Iron Age
Their eyes are bugged, their mouths are wide
They wave their fists from side to side
A thousand strong to hear the king
Yet they don’t bother listening
Hateful language The Donald spews
For them is hardly breaking news
Their lack of judging right from wrong
Was theirs before Trump came along
But what they never had was hope
Some pride when being called a dope
Trump proved dumb is worth defending!”
#Neanderthal may soon be trending.

Hurry up imagination
Breaking news on every station
Need to cover each disaster
Wish the words were coming faster
Something for the Paris sorrow
Said they wanted it tomorrow
San Bernardino needs a verse
To help dispel their ISIS curse
The global warming wears me out
Deadly floods and quakes and drought
Are squeezing me day after day
For still another way to say
That life is just a coin that’s tossed
Some lives are saved, some lives are lost
A tale for novelists to tell
“My cell phone’s ringing. Where the hell…?”

It’s true what they do is a crime
We all agree they should serve time
Normal crooks would be no fuss
But hackers? They’re smarter than us
Computers handle all we do
Imagine life before we knew
That friends were just a text away
And headlines on our phone display
But world wide web means terror too
Social networks attract those few
Who feel that ISIS is their chance
To join the rebels’ pagan dance
American Hackers unite!
We need your genius in this fight
Crashing their communication
Guarantees recruit stagnation

My bedroom used to be the place
Where I’d depart the human race
A pillow underneath my head
Anticipating dreams ahead
Sound sleep helps us rejuvenate
Revives us if we’re up too late
The eyes are how you always tell
When someone hasn’t slept too well
But that’s the way it used to be
Now sleep is just a memory
Of how life was before the sight
Of bodies on the news each night
Young children slaughtered in their school
A pilot doused with rocket fuel
Then set ablaze while people cheer
A blade cuts off a woman’s ear
We’re far away from all of it
Yet feel the pain from where we sit
Then try to shut it out in bed
But shut the horror in instead
Insomnia is on the rise
Dark circles under tired eyes
Like landmines on a Kabul road
Our minds are ready to explode
