Three hikers set off from Blue Shutters Town Beach in Charlestown, Rhode Island Sunday morning, beginning an intense 3 day, 78 mile hike along Rhode Island’s North-South Trail to raise awareness about Invenergy’s unneeded $1 billion fracked gas and diesel oil burning power plant planned for Burrillville.

One thing became very clear, very quickly: People wanted Whitehouse to actively push back against Trump, and they do not expect compromise or any more “Yes” votes on Trump’s cabinet picks.

For over a year John Niland has been heading Invenergy’s push to build a $700 million fracked gas and diesel oil burning power plant in Burrillville. Since being twice thwarted there in his quest for the water needed to cool his power plant, Niland has turned his attention to Woonsocket.
