"We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” - Elie Weisel

“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor." - Desmond Tutu

"There comes a time when neutrality and laying low become dishonorable. If you’re not in revolt, you’re in cahoots. When this period and your name are mentioned, decades hence, your grandkids will look away in shame." - David Brooks

    Funny thing.

The worse things get on the outside, the more I’m drawn to my good memories of faith.

Since I don’t want to accentuate what I’m not, I consider myself to be a free thinker.

As such, it is alright within my vision to be comforted by those aspects of the season that still hold meaning for me.

A few years back, I bought a small carved set of figures that depict the nativity.

It comforts me to have them on my mantlepiece at Christmas time.

So, that’s the way that is.

We need more mental health. We need more grace.

We need less strident, doctrinaire thought.
