TD Bank is one of main lenders for the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). The multi-state, multi-billion dollar fossil fuel pipeline project that has become the frontline in the war for Native American rights and climate justice. The Camp of the Sacred Stones and the Red Warrior Camp called for everyone to join the Global Solidarity Campaign to support the resistance to DAPL on Black Friday, an American holiday dedicated to the consumerism that is literally killing the planet. They called for protests at banks financing the pipeline and at the offices of sheriff’s departments who have sent deputies to viciously police the ongoing resistance at Standing Rock.
Here in Rhode Island activists and protesters gathered outside TD Bank at Dorance and Westminster St in downtown Providence, chanting and holding signs. Shortly after protesters arrived, the Providence Police Department responded with a half dozen officers to protect the bank. The pictures below show the kind of people TD Bank needs to be protected from.
