I also didn’t understand the relevance of the Editor’s note. Whether or not a gov’t operated unemployment insurance system existed during the founders time has no bearing, IMO, as to whether the founders would have found our current gov’t ineffective or not. It was definitely an unnecessary pot shot.

Projo has a habit of vilifying anyone and any group that is not in agreement with their republican views. They vilify teachers to no end. They criticize unions and their editorials are full of propaganda.
I don’t buy ProJO and for th life of me I can’t see any group of people supporting what Buddy Cianci calls “The Prov Pamphlet.” The Projo should be boycotted by those they paper constantly vilifies. Why would anyone support a paper that throws them under the bus. Stop buying this prejudiced propaganda paper.Let it fold. Let Sutton the owner go bankrupt and those who are employed in the corporate Providence office who belittle those groups and causes they disagree with lose their positions & seek employment elsewhere.

It’s  just a continuation of the “politifact” approach to journalism.  Choose a cherry-picked statement, judge it against your own, made up standards, and evaluate its “truth”. And then pass off this judgment as objective fact.

Not correct when done with bias in any direction.

Some real significance to be found here.

The mental health of our society is at stake.

It’s abundantly clear that some within our stressed community

wish that problems and “problem people”

    would somehow go away.

They don’t want to be bothered.

They certainly don’t want to take the time to be kind

    to people other than themselves.
