While I applaud efforts to call attention to the issue of the depradations of the fossil fuel industries, its hard for me to understand how disinvestment itself helps.  The fossil fuel companies have already issued shares and stock trading has little effect on their capital assets.  To the extent disinvestment affects the market price of shares, it offers an opportunity for investors without conscience to buy the shares at a cheaper price.  How does that help?
Perhaps to really damage the fossil fuel industries, a more meaningful way is to use less of their product.  Join People’s Power and Light for electricity.  Insulate better to reduce heating fuels, wear a sweater.  Walk, bike carpool, or use transit instead of driving alone.  Live near work to reduce commuting.  Don’t fly unless essential.
