The Republican Party is made up of a bunch of hypocrites who profess to be fiscally conservative and for strong foreign relations and a party for the people and they are anything but. Consider Trump’s out of control and needless spending, his vacation schedule, his not releasing his tax returns and his insatiable appetite to spend tax payers money – hardly fiscally conservative. Along with this, his discussing of foreign affairs in an open environment or his use of an unsecured cell phone for government business and his endless tweets the whole party should condemn his threat to foreign policy and foreign relations. And then, of course, his cabinet is filled with the vilest of swamp monsters who are corporatists to the max and made up of the 1%. This administration and the Republican response to it is nothing less than scandalous.
Donald Trump and his administration started his reign with an onslaught of unbelievable breaches of security, endless spending and unscrupulous abuses of power that is unprecedented in modern times. This, along with his signing of executive orders as if he is King and not President of the United States, is an affront to our democracy and our Constitution and we all need to know-
When will the Republicans speak out?
Trump’s spending of our taxpayer money for his own gain and personal pleasure is just one example of how out of control he is. So far over $10 million has been spent for him to vacation in Florida in just one month. Millions more have been spent for his wife and son in New York and his older son to take international trips… and all on the back of the taxpayers. Yet hardly a word from Republicans in Rhode Island, in Congress, or across the country.
In matters of security, Trump is a walking disaster. In January, he breached security on his first “vacation” at his home away from home at the Mar-A-Lago resort by chatting in the open about North Korea. He also continuously uses an unsecured cell phone talking about who knows what to who knows who. One can only imagine what the response would be if it was Hillary Clinton guilty of any one of these egregious violations. But when it comes to Trump he gets excused on all of these infractions.
And then the so-called swamp that Trump originally wanted to drain and now has turned into a breeding zone for Godzilla. He said he hated Wall Street and Goldman Sachs, he said he wanted the best cabinet made up of independent thinkers… what he did choose were the richest of the rich.
At the top of Trump’s swamp gang is Steven Mnuchin for Treasury Secretary, one of Trump’s top donors at a mere $430,000! Then there is the anti-education pick of Betsy Devos, climate denier Scott Pruitt to head the EPA and an endless stream of unbelievable conflict of interest nominees. We can only imagine the outrage if Clinton had similar picks – but hey, Republicans seemed to have forgotten their moral outrage when it comes to anything Trump.
It is time for Republicans to look in the mirror and do some soul-searching as what it means to be a Republican and a conservative. All I see now from the GOP and their president is an out of control Right Wing Fundamentalist spending Regime!
